Monday - The new normal

So as you are all aware that from Monday 19th life is back to normal or the new normal!

We know that some can't wait and others are still anxious, it's the same here at Bier Huis towers where for the past 18 months we've followed every rule chucked at us and stuck to them. We've had many a visit from the council and police to check we were doing everything right.

And we want to carry on doing things the right way.

So from Monday as we open up to more shoppers in at the same time as well as people being able to drink in we have a few requests.

For everyone

Please remember to use hand gel on entry and to respect the space around you and others. We would still prefer it if you wore a mask, to protect everyone.

Shoppers

For the last 18 months we've asked you to put shopping on the table, we will be going back to baskets. Card payments are still preferred mostly due to he struggle to get change as our bank is now in another town .

If you are not keen on being with others, come at quieter times, Mon - Thurs or before Noon any day.

Drinking In

On entry there will be the NHS test and trace QR code to scan this is no longer a legal requirement but it helps to do your bit to keep us all safe.

Service will be from Noon each day till close.

Due to capacity we won't be allowing children to stay for drinks.

Customers will be seated only, once capacity is reached, then we won't be able to serve you until a space becomes free.

Outside drinking will come to an end after Sunday 18th June

Tables will be cleaned once they become free.

We look forward to seeing all you drinkers from Monday

What's going on!

 Hi All,

Just a quick update to let you know about a few things going on here at Bier Huis towers.

Draught Beers

We are back taking casks from breweries and filling your sealed cartons as well as 5L bag in boxes and 3L pouches. I've also got a canning machine that is able to fill draught beers into cans due to us at some point it's been sat in a UPS warehouse in Essex for the last two weeks.

Plenty of 5L mini kegs are still available the above is just to give a little bit more choice and the bags/pouches last a lot longer when opened due to the air tight tap.

Belgian/German Beers

Germans beers have been a bit hit and miss over the last few weeks but should now be fine. Our German beers are imported 3rd party but the lack of UK pub trade where the importer is also meaning they are not bringing as much as normal into the UK.

Belgian beers we have a little trouble with at the present, luckily we have a couple of importers close by who have a good selection of Belgian beers.

For those that know we also import ourselves the little more unusual stuff from Belgium, which before Brexit was a bit of pain, 8 pages of paperwork all the duty calculations and a 14 day turn around from submitting the form and HMRC giving the green light. That's all gone and replaced by the system that would be used if for example we were shipping from the states. HMRC would rather a company did all the paperwork for us or we can go out a purchase some new software so that it can take to there system. Either way it keeps sending us around in circles and no clear answers. I'll get there it might just take a few more weeks and nothing about how we can bring in when we were able to drive across.

Sam Smiths

For those Sam Smiths fans you might have noticed that there has been a price increase, we knew it was coming as the pub prices went up in June. It's the first time there has been a price rise in 10 years.

Deliveries

Due to the lockdown with schools, we are back down to 2 staff and have decided not to jiggle shifts around this time. So Tuesday (South Wakefield) and Wednesday (Kirklees) have moved to Monday

And just to remind that we are open as normal 7 days a week.

Cheers everyone #backthebier
